介词用以专有名词、代词或等于专有名词的别的词类、语句或从句前，表达与别的成份的关联。介词能够与专有名词、形容词和形容词配搭表达不一样的实际意义。

during多用以表达在某个特殊的時间内，专有名词前要用定冠词the。例如：

during the winter在冬天

during the war在战事期内

during the trip在度假旅游中

during the meal在饭间

during the two years你在2年中

in一般用以表达年代、月、时节和新世纪。例如：

in 1998在1998年

in March在3月

in the 18th century在18世纪

in autumn在秋天

留意：at Christmas在圣诞

1. 二者均可表达过段时间，有时候可交换：如：I'll be on holiday in [during] August. 我将在8月休闲度假.He woke up three times in [during] the night. 晚上他醒过来3 次.2. 二者相对而言，during 更注重時间的续延，in 仅仅指通常的某一时间。因而若表达情况或下意识姿势，要用 during ，不然以用 in 为常用。较为：Many people suffered hardship during the war. 很多人到战事期内吃苦遭难。He was injured in the war. 他在战事期内受了伤。3. 在 stay, visit, meal 等表达个人行为要不断必须時间的专有名词以前，只有用 during 而不可以用 in。如：The phone rang during the meal. 用餐时电话铃响了。I went to see my aunt during my stay in Beijing. 在南京停留期内，我要去看过我的姑姑。4. 与时节专有名词省略用，in 表特指，during 表专指。较为：In summer we often camp in the forest. 夏季大家常常在森林中露宿。(特指)During the summer we camped in the forest. 这个夏天大家在森林中露宿。(专指)
